During pavement onstruction, the small vibratory roller operator's legs were run over by the tire roller reversing behind him, and he injured in the right femoral region an leg bone area. |
| Incident |
On November 12th, 2002, 15:28. the small vibratory roller operator was run over by the tire roller during the pavement construction of the national road No.4 lane widening construction, and he injured both legs. |
| Sequence |
* They were constructing the inter mediate layer's overlay in the current road, after altering the traffic to the widened ascent lane, which had been constructed in the previous day.
* Since they moved to the installation work and the workplace became narrow, the victim got off the road roller (Mc Adam roller), and he started compacting using the small vibratory roller.
* Nevertheless the victim noticed the tire roller was approaching him from behind and switched to advance, but it was too late and he got injured. |

* The tire roller operator and victim carried out rolling compaction work without rear confirmation.

* Heavy machine work plans have to be made by every working group and be confirmed by every worker.
* The proximity warning system should be installed in tire roller or road roller.
